Asheville

Our Visitors!

We have enjoyed a few unexpected visitors while here in Asheville.  This family of turkeys enjoys walking around the front and back yard daily.

This gorgeous fellow has let us know, in no uncertain terms, that we are encroaching on his territory.

He had absolutely no fear of me.  Here he is posing for the camera!

Our turkey visitors wanted to get a better look at us.  This one decided he wanted a nice aerial view and peeked through the skylight.

Blue Ridge Parkway
For our first official hike, we chose a trail off the Blue ridge Parkway.  We did not have great distance visibility, but it was still awesome to enjoy God's handiwork!

Skinny Dip Falls
After speaking with our friend, Kimberly, we decided to check out one of her suggestions for a hike.  Thanks Kimberly.  It was great catching up with you last week!
On our way to the falls, we saw this unusually shaped tree.  Isn't nature spectacular?

How beautiful the falls are.

What a lovely reward to gaze upon after a nice hike.

DuPont State Park
High Falls, Triple Falls, and Hooker Falls

We drove to DuPont State Park, in Transylvania, known as the "Land of Waterfalls"
Here is my hubby enjoying the nice gentle part of this great hike.

At the top of High Falls, taken from the Covered Bridge.

A picturesque covered bridge at the top of the falls.

High Falls

Triple Falls

My wonderful partner in this year's adventure.  We stopped off an offshoot along the river.

 More offshoots along the river.

We are now at the base of Triple Falls.
(We could not have picked a more brilliant day to go hiking!)

Here we are!!
On our way to Hooker Falls

Hooker Falls
This is quite a popular spot to take a quick dip after a hike.

Beautiful!

We have truly enjoyed our time here in Asheville, so far.  It is quiet and peaceful here.  I am overwhelmed with gratitude to our Heavenly Father for His mighty works and the opportunity to enjoy them.
Our lives were made even fuller with the arrival of our cousins, Bob and Jessica.  How wonderful to enjoy and spend time with them.  And as if life couldn't get any better, we have been joined by Bob's sister and brother-in-law (I guess that would make us cousins-in-law, so many times removed:) ), Ingrid and Jan!
We are all going on a hike together today at Pisgah National Forest.  Hope I can keep up!
Blessings to all!

  1. These pictures are beautiful, especially the waterfalls and woods! I wonder if the unusually shaped tree could be an Indian tree like those along the Trail of Tears? Know you'll enjoy the
Pisgah National Forest. It is beautiful!
