London

We stopped in London before and after our trip to Kuwait.  We did not want to overtax ourselves with layovers and long flights.  There is a direct flight from London to Kuwait, and a direct flight from London to Atlanta.  We decided London was the place to go!
On our way to ride the London Eye, we strolled by the Tower!

Tower Bridge

Traitor's Gate

When we got to the Eye, it was completely mobbed with people.  So we had to buckle down for a long wait.  Yes, we did get tickets ahead of time, it's just there is still a line after one gets their tickets.

We finally got aboard our capsule!

It is such a beautiful city.  How wonderful to view it from up here!

There were several new buildings since the last time we were here.  One of those building was this building that houses several attractions put on by CocaCola.

This little kid was quite entertaining.

You can see the throngs of people.

We made our way up to the Westminster Bridge, feeling like a Salmon swimming against the current.

Big Ben and the House of Parliament

We also decided to take a boat trip to Greenwich.  We started at the Tower Pier.

We really enjoyed Greenwich.
Greenwich College

The Cutty Sark

Here is where Greenwich Meantime originates.  There is a ball on this building that drops precisely at one o'clock.  It could be seen from the river.  Mariners would look to see if the ball had dropped to set their watches,

The Greenwich Obsevatory
Its a great park in Greenwich.  We truly enjoyed walking around and watching the goings on.  Here three dogs treed a squirrel.  They were so excited, you would think there were no other squirrels around.

We got on the boat for our return to the Tower Pier.

On our last day in London, we decided to walk through St James Park.  This is my favorite place in all of London.  I remember how peaceful it was the last time we were here.  That feeling was reclaimed once again!

The swans were so beautiful and graceful

Finally, we got to see a pelican.  I was beginning to believe pelicans did not make it to this side of the Atlantic.  This pelican was white and black.  Not like our grey/brown pelicans.  Still quite beautiful.

Here is the Horses' Guard's Palace

For those of us who love British Cop stories, you know what this is!

We went to an attraction called "The Dungeons" where the actors took us through various rooms and told us tales of London's history.  We went from King James, through the Great Fire, The Plague, Sweeney Todd, all the way up to several famous court cases.  At the end, we were all "hung", being dropped as if we were hung in a ride.

Then we sauntered over to Baker Street, 221B!

We have had a lovely time in Europe, but are quite ready to go home and see our daughter and friends.  We hope you have enjoyed this part of our year adventure.  We will pick this back up when we go out west to visit family and friends and the Grand Canyon!
Blessings to all!
